The Greenbrier 4-H club met October 10 in Clover Hall. The main order of business was a favorite activity of the 4-H year, making Christmas shoeboxes for children in other countries.
Twenty-eight were made by members filling colorful shoeboxes with hygiene items and interesting articles for other children to enjoy.
National 4-H Week was reviewed where youth placed signs around the county and candy bars were handed to business owners thanking them for their support.
Election of officers was held. Those elected were presidents-Cody Stephenson, Grace Hardaway, and Shailynne Woodley, vice-president-Bailey Anderson, secretaries-Becca Anderson and Aden Bardole, treasurers-Dakota Ostrander and Autumn Barrett, reporter-Makenzie Wahl, photographer-Jaelynn Hedges, and recreation officers-Eli Hardaway and Adya Messer.
New members present were Ashlynn Ball, Ava, Elijah, and Ellen Glendenning, Carter McCollom, Quintin Messer, Elaina Stephenson, Lily Sheridan, Parker Gierstorf, and Poppy Wetrich.
Members were reminded their re-enrollment for 2023 must be done online before November 15 to avoid a late fee. The $15 registration fee must come to the extension office.
Rylan Hostetler gave a presentation on chocolate labs with the star being his dog, Ruby. Lillian Barrett told about the care of rabbits showing some of the specific tools needed.
A lively round of group juggling with marshmallows ended the meeting. Refreshments were served by Rylan Hostetler.
The next meeting will be the Greenbrier family award day to be held Sunday, Nov. 6, at 6 pm in Clover Hall. At that time Greenbrier’s new members will be initiated and the officers installed.
